Experimental study on improving the additively manufactured GMAW and TIG beads using FSP

The beneficial effect of the friction stir processing (FSP) technique for improving properties fabricated additive parts through microstructural refinement and repairing metallurgical defects has shown its ability to be integrated into a hybrid manufacturing system. In present work, conventional GMAW TIG-based processes were further post-processed with process (FSP). case + processed beads, improvement in mechanical terms hardness flexural strength was observed. enhanced due refined microstructures obtained FSP, consisting polygonal ferrite, islands martensite-austenite constituents, lath martensite. While TIG FSP specimen 6061-T6 AA at 5100 W, backscattered electron probe micro-analyzer images from zone show presence fragmented homogeneously distributed precipitate intermetallic particles. Also, typical fusion welds such as porosities solidification cracks repaired. helps improve fracture strain bending specimens.
